Why We Endorsed Tinubu For Second Term – Adeleke

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has said his administration and political family endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office in what he described as the best interest of Osun State and the Yoruba people.




The governor stated that the decision was necessary to sustain developmental efforts in Osun, noting that the state remains the ancestral home of the president and deserves to support one of its own.




This was contained in a statement issued on Monday by Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, after the governor inspected the ongoing rehabilitation of the Ilesa-Ife-Ibadan expressway.




According to Adeleke, President Tinubu deserves the support of Osun people beyond political affiliations because of his position as a son and leader of the Yoruba race.




The governor said he needed no persuasion before publicly supporting the president’s second-term bid, adding that Osun people consider themselves fortunate to have one of their prominent sons leading the country.




He also referenced Babajide Sanwo-Olu while speaking about states connected to the president, noting that Osun remains proud of Tinubu’s roots in the state.




Adeleke further described the endorsement as a decision beyond partisan politics and commended the Federal Government for the ongoing reconstruction of the Ilesa-Ife-Ibadan road.




The governor expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work on the project, saying the reconstruction would improve access to major towns in Osun State and complement his administration’s infrastructure drive.




He added that his administration had rehabilitated several federal roads across the state since 2022, alongside the reconstruction of over 300 kilometres of state roads.




Adeleke also appealed to the Federal Government to refund the state for federal roads rehabilitated by his administration.




He further appreciated President Tinubu for approving the reconstruction of the Ibadan-Iwo-Osogbo road and the Gbongan-Akoda road, while expressing hope that the president would also approve the reconstruction of the Osogbo-Ilesa road.
