Serve God for Love, Not Because of Your Problems – Pastor Popoola Urges Christians

Most Christians today serve God mainly because of what they want from Him, not because they truly love Him. They are Christians because of the problems they have faith in God to solve, and not truly because of the love for God in their hearts.

This was the message from Pastor David Popoola, State Pastor of Living Faith Church (Winners’ Chapel), Oke-Onitea, Osogbo, during Sunday service held on 27th July, themed Covenant Day of Fruitfulness.

Preaching on the topic Unveiling the Breakthrough Power of Love—which aligns with the July theme, “I Am Redeemed for the Top”—Pastor Popoola described love for God as a mystery behind the manifestation of great catalyst in the kingdom.

According to him, “Walking in love with God automatically positions you for the top.” He explained that true love for God is not about feelings but about living a life of joyful obedience to His instructions, serving Him in and out of season.

Pastor Popoola shared a personal testimony to illustrate the power of love and service. He recalled visiting a family and praying for their children, especially the firstborn who was still in primary school while the younger ones were already in university. God answered the prayer, and the boy excelled, entered university, and graduated. In gratitude, the father went on to sponsor his daughter through a private university for five years. Pastor Popoola used this example to show that if a man can reward someone for a good deed, God will do even more when we commit ourselves to His purpose—proclaiming the Gospel and winning souls.

Highlighting the proofs of genuine love, Pastor Popoola stated that a person who loves God genuinely will live a life that commands God’s presence, a life surrounded by favour, all round rest, alignment with divine purpose and God’s will, miracles everywhere and transformation into a living wonder.

In conclusion, Pastor Popoola encouraged believers not to serve God only when they have a need, but to love and obey Him at all times, seeking to please Him and spread His name.
