Buhari Never Embezzled Public Funds – Akpabio Declares

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has described former President Muhammadu Buhari as a disciplined and incorruptible leader who never misused public funds.

Speaking during an expanded Federal Executive Council (FEC) session held in honour of Buhari at the State House, Abuja, on Thursday, Akpabio praised the former president’s legacy of integrity and selfless service.

According to Akpabio, Buhari’s most enduring contribution to Nigeria was his unwavering commitment to principle over personal enrichment.

“President Buhari believed that discipline mattered. That integrity mattered. That leadership, even when lonely, must be anchored in something greater than power,” he said.

“He did not seek to ride waves of popular acclaim; he walked, with steadiness and often in solitude, along the ridge of national conscience.”

Akpabio, who once served as a minister in Buhari’s cabinet, said even the former president’s harshest critics could not deny his honesty and dedication to the nation.

“Let us be honest — he was tough. He was a soldier who did not flinch under fire, a leader who did not flee from responsibility, and above all, a Nigerian whose loyalty to this nation was never up for sale,” he stated.
