Food Inflation: Osogbo Residents Lament Hike of Pepper and Tomatoes

Today in the early hours of the afternoon Daily Impact reporter visited the popular Igbona market to ascertain the state of pepper and tomatoes in Osogbo.

In a bid to know the prices of major foodstuffs, our reporter decides to prepare N500 Vegetable.

When she visited the first sellers by the roadside she was told pepper goes for N500 and N1000 respectively.

She moved into the heart of the market where she saw 15 pieces, and 35 pieces of pepper partitioned to be sold for N500 and N1000 respectively. Buyers are seen not buying the fresh pepper and opting for Egusi, grounded pepper and seasonings.

Daily Impact reporter could not buy the N500 pepper to prepare the vegetables. So, our correspondence opt to get N300 pepper from an Hausa seller who sold 15 pieces for N300.

In the course of the market survey Daily Impact Reporter also surveyed and conversed with tomato sellers, Hausa selling Onions, vegetable sellers, fish sellers, ponmo sellers and frozen food sellers.

Recall Daily Impact reported that inflation of foodstuff from May to June is above 46%.
