Obokun Youth Conference’24 Urges Financial Independence as Prerequisite for Political Participation

The maiden edition of the Obokun Youth Conference’24 has charged Obokun youth to grow, and have a means of income before coming into politics.

This was disclosed in the maiden edition of the Obokun Youth Conference, held at the Ajayi Memorial Hall, ibokun, Osun state on Monday.

Similarly, the Obokun Youth Conference has received the support of continuity from notable Obokun political leaders presently representing the Obokun Local government in various political positions.

Meanwhile, the guest speaker Omo’ba Isaac Fagbemi, a Media Professional, while delivering his lecture on the topic; Nurturing the Next Generation: Pathways to Empower Obokun Youths for Sustainable Impact emphasized the role of the leaders in aiding sustainability for the youth to participate in politics.

He added that the youth who are interested in serving the Obokun community should, first of all, have a strong financial stand as entering into politics to make money is not visible.

Omo’ba Isasc also charged the youth to create employment for themselves as the government cannot employ all.

In the same vein, Honourable Busayo Oluwole Oke aka BOO while addressing the youth promised to support any Obokun youth whose name appears on the ballot box in the upcoming election, emphasizing that youth involvement in politics at a very early age is crucial.

BOO also added that Obokun is a constituent that has birthed great leaders and as such the youth should arise and participate in politics.

Furthermore, He encouraged Obokun’s youth to stop being lazy waiting for a man to come give her two thousand, three thousand but find means to be independent financially and a means of income.

Obokun Youth Congress featured a panellist section which includes Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi, Lawmaker representing Obokun at Osun state House of Assembly, Hon. Eniola Omotosho, Special Adviser to Governor on Market woman Affairs, Hon. Gbenga David Falope, Mrs Mercy Ayodele, Memeber Obokun Local Government Education Authority and Mrs Victoria Oluwaseun Oyewusi, Initiator Of One Comunity, One Industry.

Speaking during the panel session Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi, aka Irekandu hammered on raising the next generation of youth to take up the mantle of leadership in the political space of Obokun. He charged Obokun youth to get more knowledge and be relevant, especially in this era of technology.

Also, addressing the topic, Hon. Eniola Omotosho pleaded with Obokun youth to do away with complacency and get focused, committed, and determined to add value.

In a bid to address the topic, Mrs Oluwaseun Oyewusi, initiator of One Community, One Industry urges young Obokun entrepreneurs to continue to be committed to solving a problem as that is what entrepreneurship is all about.

She also mentioned that she will be collaborating with youth in entrepreneurship to support their business to thrive better.

Hon. Gbenga Falope appealed to the youth to shun political apathy and embrace active participation in politics.

Meanwhile, Mrs Mercy spoke extensively on youth having a mind of service to the community when venturing into politics using BOO as an example, she explained that most people have benefitted from BOO administration in so many ways.

The panellists all appreciated the youth for organizing the event and urged that subsequently an event like this be held to awaken Obokun youth to a call of participation in politics for the constituency to get its total share of a dividend of democracy.
