The Executive Director of Value Reorientation for Community Enhancement, (VARCE) an NGO, in Osogbo, has highlighted the importance of Education to the attainment of Peace in Osun State.
Mr Ademola Adebisi, disclosed this today during a Live programme on Western Spring Television in Osogbo on the occasion of the International Day of Education with the theme; “Learning for Lasting Peace,”.
Speaking on this year’s theme Mr. Adebisi stated the crucial role of peace as a virtue in the family, society, and the nation. Adding that his experiences traveling for work projects, have exposed him to the pressing need for peace in Nigeria.
Similarly, he acknowledges the challenges posed by the country’s population, expressing concern that national insecurities have jeopardized the peace Nigeria once had.
He earnestly appealed to the government to take decisive actions to secure the lives of its citizens.
Mr Adebisi reiterated that as an educationist, He advocates for an inclusive curriculum. Meanwhile, counselling should be conducted by trained counsellors and not teachers, through proper guidance and counselling programs.
However, he urged school management to instil discipline in students by implementing effective counselling processes.
